ANNOUNCEMENTS, WEEK OF APRIL 22, 2018
Thank you to all who have worked and are working on the remodeling. The new floors, the painting, the restrooms, things look incredible. If you haven’t seen all that is happening, please do take a look.
Also, please take a look at the garden behind the church. Thank you to Randy Hendrickson and the Sunday School for working on this. This is proving to be great fun!
Pastor Mark still in England
Pastor Mark continues to be in England attending to family matters. Please do keep him and his family in your prayers. And thank you to everyone who is helping in his absence.
In case of concerns or needs during this time, please call the church office.
A Passion for God’s Word
We have completed our first lesson in our current Bible study and we are ready for the second lesson, An Anatomy of the Bible. Lesson 2 takes a birds’ eye view of the Bible to determine the structure of the Bible and how the individual parts fit together.
Lesson 2 begins on Thursday, April 26 at 10:00 AM. Study material is available in the Church office or you can contact Chris Burris (email@example.com) for an digital version.
We have a men’s fellowship group that meets monthly. This month we are meeting at Richard Eck’s home at 15259 Southport Drive, Tyler, (only 3 miles from church). We will gather at 4:30 pm on Saturday, April 21. Our gatherings include dinner, conversation, bragging, swapping stories and getting to know each other better. On the menu this month is Lip-Smack’n, Nose-Burn’n Mudbug. Guys, please come and check it out. For more information and directions, please call Richard at 903-283-0095, or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Save the date – May 10 at noon for our next Primetimers meeting. We will have a potluck lunch and our speaker will be Leslie Fossey Rollings, Debbie Miller’s daughter-in-law. You will hear of how Leslie seemed to have it all – two great children, a Christ-centered life, a new fiancé and a great career. Then a huge change – Leslie’s vehicle was “t-boned” by an 18 wheeler on her way to the office. Leslie was taken by ambulance to ETMC, where she fought for her life. Come hear Leslie share her story of near-death, then learning that she had been in a coma for over 2 weeks, then experiencing amnesia, and continuing the long road of recovery even now, 18 months after she was injured.
Reading the Word of God – 2018 Reading Plan
“Reading the Word of God,” a daily Bible reading guide, was conceived and prepared as a result of ongoing discussions between representatives of three church bodies: Lu-theran Church–Canada (LCC), The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) and the North American Lutheran Church (NALC). In order to encourage the people of our church bodies in daily reading of Holy Scripture, a three-year plan of daily Bible readings and a year-long series of weekly readings on Martin Luther’s approach to the Scriptures have been prepared and available as calendars for 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Here is the exciting news – the NALC is offering this electronically! You may sign up to receive the appointed readings as a daily text or email message or subscribe to our digital calendar.
Daily text message: Text @WordofGod3 to 614-682-8693
Daily email: Go to remind.com/join/WordofGod3 and complete the brief sign-up form.
Digital Calendar: For those using a digital calendar (Google Calendar, Outlook/ Office 365, iCal or others), we have created a calendar subscription link to im-port the daily readings directly into your personal calendar. This digital calendar includes the list of daily readings, with a link to the Sunday weekly reading pro-vided in the “notes” section of that day’s calendar event.
